Dear ,

We have all heard the saying, "It’s all in the details." This holds true in our Christian walk, especially when navigating uncertainty and angst. Philippians 4:6 (TPT) reads, "Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life." That’s right! The same God that created the heavens and the earth wants to know every detail of your life. And it gets even better, when we share our life through prayer, as you read in verse seven it says, "then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ." By placing this full confidence in a loving God, inner peace is promised to us, even as a tempest is raging about.

I know that all sounds great Brian, but what about now? What about your unique and demanding situation? I want you to know that your Maranatha family cares. We understand for some, even after praying for that inner peace, anxiety and worry can still be present. If this describes your situation, I completely understand and want to offer assistance in any way we can. Please reach out and use the helpline feature on our website or call the school. You will be put in touch with a caring and empathic staff member to help support you through your current situation.

Today, some of the uncertainty of our lives was made a bit clearer by Governor Walz’s announcement that schools will be closed to on-campus classes for the remainder of the academic year. This is certainly personally and collectively disappointing for all of us. One silver lining is Maranatha will continue to collaborate and ideate new ideas to make remote/eLearning even more engaging, effective, and accessible for all of our students. This will continue through to the end of the school year.

If you have been a part of Maranatha, you know the month of May brings a lot of special events. Rest assured, we are working on plans to make as many of these events a possibility and every bit as special for our students. One decision we already made was canceling Experience Maranatha! (EM!) This event holds a special place in our hearts as we invite grandparents and family members to join us for a celebration of our amazing fine arts program, complete with food trucks, and a book fair. While we look forward to our best EM! ever next year, our specialists will continue to look for virtual ways to show off our students’ talents. As a school, we will also continue to offer unique virtual events to our families. Please be sure to check out our events calendar and Facebook page for more details.

For our other major events, including Grade 5 Celebration, Upper School Awards Program, Pre-k Promotion, Kindergarten Graduation, and Commencement, we are working diligently on plans to provide the best possible experience as we explore this new normal together. We will be reaching out to the student leadership of the Class of 2020 to receive input from them for the end of their senior year.

I pray the peace described above does reach each and every one of you. We love and miss our Maranatha family dearly. Yet, we are a resilient, tenacious, and courageous group of explorers that will continue to develop co-creators of tomorrow.

God bless each of you. You have been and remain in my prayer.

We’ve Got This, Cuz He’s Got Us,

Brian Sullivan
